How to Search and Filter the Dispatch Calendar

Last updated: August 3, 2026

When you are staring at a full dispatch board and need one specific trip, you should not have to scroll for it. Dispatch now has three ways to cut through the noise: search that highlights the trip right on the calendar, a detail card that shows the whole trip without opening it, and filters that tell you plainly what they are hiding.

Note: Dispatch has two separate search boxes and two separate filter panels. Search unassigned trips and the left-hand Filters control the unassigned queue on the left. Search assigned trips and the Filters button above the calendar control the scheduled trips on the board. They work independently, so check which one you are using.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Find a trip with search

  1. Start typing: Click Search assigned trips above the calendar and type any part of a passenger name. Results appear after a few characters.

  2. Read the results: Matches are grouped by date. Each result shows the passenger name, the pickup and dropoff addresses, and the pickup and dropoff times, so you can tell two similar trips apart before you click.

  3. Click the result: The calendar jumps to that trip and highlights it. Every other trip on the board dims, so the one you want is the only thing in full color.

  4. Clear the search: Click the X in the search box to bring the rest of the board back.

See trip details without opening the trip

  1. Open the detail card: Selecting a trip opens a card next to it on the calendar showing the passenger name, space type (for example Wheelchair), phone number, Status, Payer, and the full Pickup and Dropoff times and addresses. Scroll inside the card for the rest of the trip.

  2. Take action from the card: The three-dot menu at the top right of the card carries the trip actions, so you can go from "find it" to "do something about it" without leaving the board.

Use filters and know exactly what they are doing

  1. Open the filter panel: Click Filters. On the unassigned side you get Time Range, Payers, Space Types, Service Types, Counties, Zip Codes, Trip Tags, Passenger Tags, Price, and Trip Categories. On the assigned side you get Drivers, Statuses, Vehicle Tags, Driver Tags, Trip Tags, Passenger Tags, Payers, and Space Types.

  2. Watch the counts: Every category shows a number for how many options you have selected inside it, so you can see at a glance where a filter is set without expanding each section.

  3. Apply and confirm: Click Apply Filters. Three things change so you cannot miss that a filter is on:

    • The Filters button gets a green outline and a badge showing how many filters are active.

    • A clear filters link appears next to the button.

    • On the unassigned side, a line reads "Showing 2 of 5 unassigned trips" so you always know how many trips are hidden.

  4. Review or remove filters: Reopen the panel and the Applied Filters row at the top lists each active filter as a chip, for example Payer: A Broker. Click the X on a chip to drop just that one, or Clear All to drop them all.

    • Bambi Best Practice: If your board looks emptier than it should, check the Filters button for the green badge before you go hunting for missing trips. A filtered board can show "Showing 0 of 5 unassigned trips" next to the "There are no unassigned trips for Bambi to run" message, and that zero means filtered, not finished.

Search, the detail card, and the filter counts all work off the same board, so you can stack them: filter to one payer, search a passenger, and read the trip without opening a single new page.
