How to Lock Trips to a Driver

Last updated: March 27, 2026

Locking a trip to a specific driver is an incredibly useful feature when you have a required passenger-driver pairing that cannot be changed. Once a trip is locked, it becomes protected. The system will not move or unassign that trip, even if you clear the driver's board or use the automated routing feature.

Follow these simple steps to lock a trip securely to a driver's schedule.

Step 1: Locate the Assigned Trip

Navigate to your main dispatch screen. Ensure the trip you want to secure is already placed in the correct driver's schedule column [00:00].

Step 2: Access the Trip Menu

Find the specific trip block you wish to lock (for example, securing a passenger named "Blue Bird" to your driver, Kelsey). Click the three vertical dots (⋮) located on the trip block to open the options menu [00:12].

Step 3: Lock the Trip

From the dropdown menu, select Lock this trip to the driver [00:18].

Step 4: Verify the Lock Icon

Once selected, look at the trip block on the dispatch screen. You will now see a small lock emblem displayed on the trip, visually confirming that the assignment is secure [00:24].

The Benefits of a Locked Trip

  • Protected from Unassigning: If you need to clear the driver's schedule and choose to "Unassign all trips" in their row, the locked trip will safely remain in place while all other trips are removed [00:31].

  • Protected from Auto-Routing: If you decide to mix things around and run the automated Bambi Run tool, the system will completely respect your locked assignment. The locked trip will stay perfectly assigned to that specific driver even after the new optimized schedule is applied [00:52].
