How to Add a Leg to an Existing Trip

Last updated: June 1, 2026

Instead of creating a new trip from scratch when a passenger needs a return ride or an extra stop, you can add a leg directly to an existing trip. This saves time and keeps related legs linked together in the system.

Important rules before you begin:

  • You can only add one leg at a time to an existing trip.

  • The original trip must be scheduled for today or a future date — you cannot add a leg to a past trip.

  • For Wait and Return trips, the original trip must be unassigned before you can add the return leg.

To add a leg to an existing trip:

  1. Navigate to your Dispatch Calendar and find the current or future trip you want to modify.

  2. Click on the trip to open the options menu, then select Edit Trip.

  3. Scroll to the bottom of the Edit Trip screen and select the type of leg you want to add:

    • Make a Round Trip — generates a return trip from the drop-off back to the original pickup location

    • Make it a Will Call Return — creates an unscheduled return that sits in the queue until activated

    • Additional Leg — lets you enter custom pickup and drop-off addresses for a multi-stop journey

    • Wait and Return — keeps the driver at the destination with the passenger (original trip must be unassigned)

  4. Enter the Pickup Time for the new leg and verify that addresses and passenger details are correct.

  5. Click Save. The new leg will appear on the dispatch board (typically in the unassigned queue).

  6. Drag and drop the new leg onto a driver's schedule to assign it.
