How to Cancel and Delete Trips
Last updated: March 27, 2026
Managing schedule changes is a daily reality in NEMT dispatching. The Bambi platform provides simple tools to gracefully remove trips from your active schedule, depending on the operational situation.
Follow this guide to learn the difference between canceling and deleting trips, and how to perform both actions within the system.
Understanding the Difference: Cancel vs. Delete
Before removing a trip, it is important to choose the correct action for your records:
Cancel: Use this when a scheduled trip falls through due to operational or passenger circumstances [00:06]. Canceling requires you to log a specific reason (such as a "No-Show" or "Passenger requested to cancel"), preserving the record for your reports and billing [00:14].
Delete: Use this exclusively when a trip was created entirely by accident [00:24]. Deleting a trip completely erases it from your account as if it never existed and requires you to start from scratch.
Method 1: Canceling a Trip from the Dispatch Screen
You can quickly cancel a trip right from your active dispatch board.
Locate the trip block on the dispatch screen.
Click the three vertical dots (⋮) on the trip block to open the options menu, and select Cancel [00:35].
Bambi will automatically detect if the passenger has other trips (like a return leg) scheduled for that same day and ask if you would like to cancel those as well [00:41]. Choose whether to cancel only this specific leg or multiple legs.
Select an appropriate cancellation reason from the dropdown menu (e.g., No-Show, Passenger Refused Service, Schedule Conflict, etc.) [00:52].
Click Confirm [01:08]. The trip will immediately be removed from the active schedule.
Method 2: Canceling or Deleting from the Trips Section
For broader trip management, you can process cancellations or deletions directly from your main Trips directory.
Navigate to the Trips section from your top menu [01:45].
Find the specific trip in your list. Click the three vertical dots (⋮) next to the trip.
To completely erase an accidental booking: Select Delete from the menu [02:05].
To cancel the trip: Select Cancel [02:18].
Just like on the dispatch screen, Bambi will prompt you if there are additional legs for that passenger on the same day [02:23].
Applying Reasons: If you are canceling multiple legs for a Private Pay passenger, you can utilize a "global cancellation reason" to efficiently apply the exact same reason to all related legs at once [02:34]. If they are Broker trips, you must assign the cancellation reason to each leg individually [02:42].
Click Confirm [02:46].
Once canceled, the trip status will update in your directory list. You can hover your mouse over the canceled status indicator to quickly view the logged cancellation reason [02:53].
