How to Create and Apply Route Templates in Bambi NEMT

When managing recurring trips—such as student transport, adult daycare, or regular daily commuters—assigning the exact same trips to the exact same drivers day after day can drain your dispatch team's time.

Route Templates solve this by allowing you to build a schedule once and apply it forward with a single click [00:28]. Here is a step-by-step guide to creating, applying, and managing Route Templates in the Bambi NEMT platform.

Phase 1: Structuring Your Initial Route

Before creating a template, you must first build the ideal route on your dispatch screen.

  1. Assign the Trips: On the dispatch screen, drag the recurring unassigned trips from the left column to your chosen driver on the right [00:56]. Be sure to include both the morning outbound trips and the afternoon return trips.

  2. Multi-Load the Passengers (Highly Recommended): If the driver is picking up multiple passengers in one run, multi-load them. This creates a clear, sequential manifest (indicated by up arrows for pickups and down arrows for drop-offs) [01:20]. Multi-loading ensures the driver taps fewer buttons in the Bambi Driver App and follows the exact order you set [02:44].

Phase 2: Saving the Route Template

Once the driver's schedule is perfectly structured for the day, you can lock it in as a template.

  1. Locate the driver's schedule column that you just built.

  2. Open the driver's options menu and select Create a route template [03:09].

  3. Name the Template: Give the route a clear, identifiable name (e.g., "Ben's Daily Route") [03:20].

  4. Set Availability: Select the specific days of the week this template should be available to apply.

  5. Click Save to finalize the template.

Phase 3: Applying Route Templates to Future Days

With your templates saved, you can drastically reduce dispatching time for future dates.

  1. Navigate to a future date on your dispatch calendar (e.g., tomorrow) where your recurring unassigned trips are waiting [04:05].

  2. Click the Route button located on the dispatch screen [04:17].

  3. A menu will appear displaying all your saved Route Templates. Check the boxes next to the templates you wish to run for that day.

  4. Click Apply [04:36].

  5. Bambi will instantly match the unassigned trips to the parameters of the selected templates and assign them to the correct drivers automatically [04:45].

Note: Any trips that were not part of the saved templates (such as new or one-off bookings) will remain in the unassigned column for you to handle manually [04:50].

Managing Existing Route Templates

If you need to make adjustments to a template due to a passenger cancellation or a driver change, you can manage them from the main navigation menu.

  1. Navigate to the Trips section at the top of the screen [05:17].

  2. Click on the Route Templates tab.

  3. From this dashboard, you can view, edit, or delete any of your saved templates as your operational needs shift [05:22].
