How to Assign Trips in Bambi

Efficiently managing your daily schedule is the core of successful NEMT operations. The Bambi platform provides three distinct, easy-to-use methods for assigning trips from your general queue to your active drivers directly on the dispatch screen [00:00].

Choose the method that best fits your current dispatching needs.

Method 1: The Drag-and-Drop Approach (Single Trips)

The fastest way to assign an individual trip is to manually place it directly onto a driver's schedule.

  1. On your main dispatch screen, locate the specific trip in the unassigned queue on the left-hand side.

  2. Click and hold the trip card [00:07].

  3. Drag the trip directly into your chosen driver's schedule column and release it to drop it in place [00:13].

  4. The trip will instantly update as assigned to that driver [00:18]. (Note: If you change your mind or make a mistake, you can easily drag the trip right back to the unassigned column [00:23].)

Method 2: Bulk Assigning Specific Trips to One Driver

If you need to give a specific driver a handful of particular trips—such as when a driver has a regular route or a preferred relationship with certain passengers—you can assign them all at once [00:41].

  1. In your unassigned trips column, select the specific trips you want to group together [00:30].

  2. Once your desired trips are selected, click the Assign button [00:46].

  3. A prompt will appear displaying your available drivers. Click on the name of the driver you wish to take the route.

  4. All of the selected trips will automatically move over and populate that specific driver's schedule [00:51].

Method 3: Automated Routing with "Run Bambi Run"

When you have a large volume of unassigned trips and want the system to build the most optimized schedule for your fleet, utilize Bambi's automated routing tool.

  1. Above your unassigned trips queue, click the Select all button to grab every unassigned trip for the day [01:05].

  2. Click the Run Bambi Run button.

  3. The system will ask which drivers you want to put into consideration for the routes. Select the active drivers you want to include, then click Run Bambi run again to initiate the process [01:11].

  4. The platform will process the variables and instantly build an optimized schedule, moving the unassigned trips into the selected drivers' columns [01:21].

  5. Review the proposed schedule, and click Apply to officially lock in and finalize the assignments [01:27].
