How to Change Vehicle Configurations
Last updated: March 27, 2026
To maximize the efficiency of your fleet, the Bambi platform needs to understand exactly how many passengers and what types of equipment each vehicle can comfortably transport at the same time. By setting up distinct Vehicle Configurations, you give the system the precise capacity parameters it needs to optimize your multi-loading and routing.
Whether you operate standard sedans or massive custom vans, follow this elegant, step-by-step guide to structure your vehicle capabilities perfectly.
Step 1: Access the Vehicle Profile
Navigate to your fleet management dashboard and locate the specific vehicle you wish to update (for example, "Ambulatory 1").
Click the pencil icon next to the vehicle's name to launch the editing interface [00:00].
Once the vehicle profile window opens, click Next to proceed to the capacity settings [00:09].
Step 2: Understand the Configuration Layout
A single "Configuration" defines one specific combination of passengers and equipment that can safely fit inside the vehicle at the exact same time [00:46].
Because vehicles—especially larger transport vans—can often be reconfigured throughout the day depending on the trip, Bambi allows you to create an endless amount of possible capacity combinations for a single vehicle [00:39].
Step 3: Define Your Primary Capacity (Configuration 1)
In the first configuration block, input the most common seating arrangement for that vehicle.
Example: You might specify that the vehicle can simultaneously hold two (2) ambulatory passengers and one (1) wheelchair passenger [00:15].
Step 4: Add Additional Configurations
To maximize the system's flexibility, add alternative setups that the vehicle can physically accommodate.
Click to add a second configuration. You could set this one to allow for one (1) stretcher, one (1) wheelchair, and one (1) ambulatory passenger all at once [00:23].
Click to add a third configuration. You might indicate a high-capacity run that holds one (1) ambulatory patient, two (2) empty wheelchairs (stored in the trunk), and two (2) occupied wheelchairs in the main cabin [00:52].
Step 5: Save Your Settings
Once you have entered all the realistic capacity combinations for that specific van or car, simply save your changes [00:59]. Bambi will now instantly reference these visual loadouts when automatically assigning and multi-loading trips.
