How to manage notifications

Last updated: September 11, 2026

Note: The Bambi team is working on new and improved notifications throughout the summer and fall of 2026.

What's New?

  • Two new notification types:

    • When a trip is requested through your public trip request form

    • When a trip is requested through your facility portal.

  • Expanded notifications interface. The Notification bell icon in the top right corner of your Bambi dashboard opens a list of your recent notifications. You can manage them from here, or click View My Notifications to see more information.

Notifications about expiring credentials and expiring subscriptions also appear here, so all of your notifications are in one place.

  • Email delivery. Notifications can now be sent via email, so you can see that a request has come in before you even log in to Bambi.

About Notifications in Bambi

Notifications Menu 🔔

Click the Notification bell icon to see your unread alerts.

Click on a notification to expand it and see more details, then click the link to jump to that part of your Bambi dashboard (the specific trip, credential, subscription, etc.).

Dismiss each alert by clicking the Dismiss button.

To see all of your notifications, click View My Notifications at the bottom of the menu to go to the Notifications page.

Notifications Page

On the Notifications page, the details of each alert are displayed in-line.

Trip Request alerts show you who requested the trip, the pickup time, the pickup address, the drop-off address, and a View on Trips link that takes you straight to the trip.

Subscription alerts show an Expires At date and link to Trips > Subscriptions.

When you click a notification, it opens in a detail window with the same information, a link to view the full item in the appropriate place in your account, and buttons to Close or Dismiss Notification.

The notification list carries three timestamp columns: Created At, Seen At, and Read At. Seen At records when the notification arrived, and Read At records when someone actually opened it. If you need to work out whether an alert was missed or simply ignored, Read At is the column to check.

Email Notifications

Email notifications simply tell you that there is a new notification, and what type it is. The email contains no patient information or PHI. For example, a trip request notification tells you that a new trip has been requested and gives you a View Details button. Names, addresses, and trip details stay securely behind your Bambi login.

Manage Who Gets Notified

Who receives which notifications can be controlled on two levels: by role, and by each individual user.

Bambi Best Practice

Keep each notification set only to the people who will act on it - usually your Owners, Admins, and Dispatchers. Receiving too many notifications leads many users to ignore all of the notifications, and things may get missed!

Manage notifications by role

Owners and Admins can control which roles receive which notifications.

  1. Click the Settings gear icon in the top-right corner of your Bambi dashboard.

  2. Go to the Notifications tab on the settings page.

  3. Each row on this page is a different kind of notification. The different Bambi user roles are listed across the top of the columns: Owner, Admin, Dispatcher, Associate, Restricted Support, Facility Admin, Facility User.

  4. Click the toggle switch to enable or disable each notification for each role. You can also click "Disable all" or "Enable all" to disable or enable all of the notifications for that user type.

  5. Click the Save button at the bottom of the screen to save your changes.

You might notice that some of the notifications don't have an option to toggle it on or off for a particular role. These users are not the appropriate audience for that type of notification, so it cannot be enabled.

Manage personal notification preferences

Each user can also customize which notifications they receive by email. In-app alerts cannot be disabled by an individual user.

To customize which email notifications you receive:

  1. Click the notification bell icon in the top right corner of your Bambi dashboard.

  2. Click the View My Notifications link at the bottom of the menu.

  3. On the My Notifications page, click the Delivery Settings tab.

  4. Edit your preference for each type of notification.

  5. Click the Save Preferences button at the bottom of the page to save your changes.

Troubleshooting Notifications

I am not receiving an email I expect.

You'll need to check two settings, in this order:

  1. Your role. Ask an admin to check Settings > Notifications and confirm your role is enabled for that notification type.

If your role is switched off, or the option is blank, nothing you change in your own settings will help. Your user type is not able to receive this kind of notification.

  2. Your delivery settings. Click the Notification bell icon, choose View My Notifications, open Delivery Settings, and confirm the Email toggle is on for that notification.

If both are on and the email still has not arrived, check your spam or junk folder and add the Bambi notification sender to your safe senders list.

I am receiving too many emails.

Open Delivery Settings and switch Email off for the notification types you do not want to receive via email. In-app notifications cannot be disabled, so you will still be able to see all of your notifications by clicking the Notification bell icon.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I need to turn notifications on? No. They are already live on every account.

  • My settings say "Public Portal." What does that mean? That is your public trip request form, the request form you embed on your website. A request submitted there triggers the Public Portal: Trip Requested notification.

  • Can I receive notifications by text message? Not at this time. Email and in-app are the delivery channels today.

  • Does the email notification contain patient information? No. It tells you a request came in and gives you a View Details button. Everything else stays securely inside Bambi.

  • Why can I not enable a notification for a certain role? That role is not part of that notification's audience, so it cannot be enabled for that role.

  • Do facility admins and facility users get notified when their request is accepted or rejected? Not at this time. The current trip notifications cover requests coming in. Facility-side acceptance and rejection alerts will be coming in the future!

  • Will I be notified when a driver completes a trip or runs late? No. This release covers trip requests, credential expirations, and subscription expirations.

  • Can I add my own logo or wording to the notification email? No. Notification emails use a standard Bambi template.

  • Does this change anything in the Bambi NEMT Driver App? No. These notifications are for Bambi web portal users only.
