How to Set Up Tiered Mileage Pricing
Last updated: April 16, 2026
Tiered Mileage Pricing allows you to create multiple pricing structures for a single payer based on the loaded miles of a trip. Instead of creating duplicate payer accounts for different distance brackets, Bambi will automatically apply the correct rates based on the mileage ranges you define.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Navigate to Pricing: Open your Bambi dashboard and click on the Pricing tab.
Select a Payer & Service Type: Choose the Payer you want to configure (e.g., Facility DEF) and select the specific Service Type (e.g., Wheelchair).
Define Your First Mileage Range: Under "Mileage Range," input the minimum and maximum miles for your first tier (e.g., Minimum: 0, Maximum: 20).
Name the Pricing Scheme: Enter a clear name for this specific tier.
Bambi Best Practice: We recommend a simple naming convention to keep your billing organized. Use the Payer Name and the Mileage Range. (e.g.,
Facility DEF - 0 to 20m).
Configure the Rates: Set your Base Fee, Loaded Mileage rate, and any other specific fee structures for this exact mileage bracket, then click Save.
Add Subsequent Tiers: To add the next tier, simply create a new pricing scheme for the same Payer and Service type. Set your next mileage range (e.g., Minimum: 20, Maximum: 40) and enter the corresponding rates.
Set an Upper Limit (Optional): For your final tier, you can input a minimum mileage (e.g., 40) and leave the maximum field blank to apply that pricing scheme to all trips over that distance.
Once saved, the Bambi system will automatically calculate the loaded miles for every assigned trip and seamlessly apply the correct pricing tier.
